1 Adequate Travel Atlas
Matthew-Northrup Co. 1893 First Edition Hardcover Very Good-
Slight discoloration on covers as if carried in someone's hand, slight wear on top of spine, and front corner cover wear (bit of cloth is worn away at that point). ; Adequate Travel Atlas United States was printed and compiled in 1893 by the Matthew-Northrup Co. This is NOT a reprint! See the pictures! Not many originals of this book out there, although the Newberry and some other top academic libraries have copies. This is a 244 page book with beautiful, unmarked endpapers in front and back commemorating Washington, DC, Chicago, Niagra, and Yosemite. I found no marks on the maps or pages. For its age and purpose, the book is relatively tight. This would be a thoughtful gift for map enthusiasts; ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 244 pages

13 Notes for the Course in the History of Military Art
United States Military Academy 1952 Softcover Good
This softcover book has a small spot on the front cover, pencilled notes on the book's abbreviations on the inside front cover, light highlighting using normal, red, and blue pencil on the text, an apparent neatly pencilled correction on figure 18, pages 14 through 16, which are present in the book, are also inserted in the book (I assume this is corrected text given the smaller size of the pages) and a two page figure 17 is loose (since figure 17 is also bound in the booklet, my assumption is that this is also a corrected figure). ; This is a book printed in 1952, NOT the print on demand editions easily found elsewhere. This book is marked "RESTRICTED Security Information." The book has 19 fold out drawings illustrating covered concepts. This would make a unique gift for your favorite West Point cadet! ; Drawings; 8vo 8" - 9" tall

16 Snap it Up! 1925 Volume I Fifth Corps Area Fort Benjamin Harrison
Military Training Camps Association of the United States 1925 Hardcover Good+
Snap It Up! 1925 Volume I Fifth Corps Area Fort Benjamin Harrison is a fascinating historical document which gives one a surprisingly deep experience and understanding of life in this little remembered voluntary program called the Citizens' Military Training Camps (CMTC). Conceived under President Harding and continued under President Coolidge, the CMTC was part of the government effort to increase military preparedness in the wake of the Great War. A short history of this program along with the major figures in the program's creation is part of the book. The book does not have individual participant photos rather it has group photos by company with rosters. Each company came up with poems, drawings, cartoons, calendars, and stories which tell about aspects of camp life and experience. Articles and candid and posed photos show elements of cavalry, organized sports, religion, and many other subjects concerning life and training at Fort Benjamin Harrison. Additionally, the book has vintage Packard, Stetson Hats, Jewett Motor Coach, Black and Decker ads and other advertisments at the back of volume. The book is in good shape with but does have about a half inch tear in the cloth at the top rear of the spine, minor foxing, and a pencilled price erasure. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 161 pages

20 The Glories of the World's Fair The Greatest of all Photographic Reproductions
The Fair 1894 Booklet Good+
You are buying the 10 volume set of oversized (11" by 13. 5") booklets containing sixteen images each of the 1893 The World's Fair Columbian Exposition (aka The Chicago World's Fair). The introduction in Part 1 of the series states that there are 10 parts -- all of which are represented. The only date on these publications we identified was the 1894 copyright date. Interestingly, this series was published by The Fair, a Chicago department store located at State, Adams and Dearborn Streets which was started in 1874 and purchased by Montgomery Ward in 1957. The flagship store building at this location was demolished in 1984. Of course, Montgomery Ward shuttered operations in 2001. Defects in the booklets are as follows: Part 1: slight chip at bottom of spine fold, smaill tear along top of back cover and top corner wrinkle on back cover; Part 2: slight bottom page edge foxing, small tear to side edge of back cover and small stain at top edge of back cover; Part 3: small tear at bottom spine fold; Part 4 & 5: no obvious defects; Part 6: slight crease on top front cover; Part 7: slight wrinkling of covers and pages at bottom corner; Part 8: slight chipping along bottom edge and small chip repair using book tissue mending tape, and small tear at middle of back cover; Part 9: slight darkening/soiling to front; and Part 10: chipping to bottom edges of front and back covers, a three inch tear at the middle bottom back cover, wrinkled and slightly chipped back cover upper corner, and soiling to bottom corner of back cover some of which has bled through to the corner (white space) of the last page on which an image is featured. Interestingly, this back cover advertises the availability of a binder for this series at a cost of $0.43. I have never seen an example of this binder. ; This would make a truly stunning addition to either a World's Fair Collector or a Chicago history buff! Please contact us for photos. ; The Fair Series; Vol. 1/10/2013; 8vo 8" - 9" tall
