7 Cather, Willa Death Comes for the Archbishop

Corners are unbumped and the binding is tight. Gutters are in good shape. ; First edition identification centers on misspellings on pages 20 and 57. The words "happened" and "supper" are misspelled on these pages. On page 20, you will see "happned". On page 57, you will see "suppper". Both elements are present and correct for a first printing. A panel of commentators were recently asked, "If you could bring only one book with you to a deserted desert island, what book would it be?" One replied this would be the book she would bring. 9 Eggleston, Edward The Hoosier School-Master A Story of Backwoods Life in Indiana
Thompson & Thomas 1892 Hardcover Very Good-

The white on the frame appears to have worn in places as well as red is visible around the lower regions. The original owner has a small bookplate and his name penned on the front endpaper. ; While this is NOT a library book, the preface of this rare and striking edition of this classic states that it is a "library edition." 10 Fitzgerald, F. Scott All the Sad Young Men
Charles Scribner's Sons 1926 First Edition; First Printing Hardcover Good+
This book has clean boards and unbumped corners and is in good plus condition. The page edges and several pages have significant foxing (spotting). I believe this is due to humidity and acid content of pages. Pages 265 -266 (one sheet of paper) has a half moon piece missing which does not reach the text with the few preceding pages having little nicks and tears around page edges. This looks to be because of imperfections in the paper used in the original printing process. Whatever the cause, these defects are present. ; First edition identifications of this book center on the presence or absence of "battered text" on pages 36, 90, and 238 of the book. I did not see instances of this and will provide pictures of each page for your inspection if requested. This is a relatively affordable early first edition by one of American literature's iconic novelists. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 267 pages

The DJ, now protected in a poly cover, is in good plus shape with minor edge wear, edge tears, and chipping. But as with all of Edward Gorey's books, "TUH" is also about life in general, with its anguish, turnips, conjunctions, illness, defeat, string, parties, no parties, desuetude, fever, tides, labels, mourning, elsewards.
