212 Hunt, Blanche Seale Stories of Little Brown Koko
American Colortype Company 1940 Hardcover Good with no dust jacket Illustrated by Wagstaff, Dorothy
After page 96, a Little Brown Koko Coloring Book is bound into the volume. All but two of the pages have been colored by children and one page has a 3.5 inch tear at the bottom middle area. The binding is tight, but the endpapers are beginning to tear at the interior staples. One page (45/46) is heavily crinkled and wrinkled. Corners have some bumping. The cover colors are bright but the front cover does show some moisture droplet staining. Age related foxing and yellowing throughout. ; This volume of Little Brown Koko has a bright red spine and a bright blue border around a bright color illustration of Little Brown Koko, his "mammy", his mule and his puppy. Overall, it is in good shape with the defects I have listed. The book may be a first edition as 1940 is the only date I can find. It would be a good addition to any collection of 20th century black Americana. Ask me to email pictures if you need more information on condition. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 96 pages

294 Murrey, Thomas J. Salads and Sauces
Frederick A. Stokes and Brother 1889 Hardcover Good
Board edges show wear and rubbing, and it has some edge and corner bumps. The binding is tight and the inside is clean and slightly tanned. ; This nineteenth century cookbook is a snapshot in culinary writing history. As was the custom, it is written in lively prose without offset ingredient lists. One example of the unique information presented in the book falls under Mallery's Yale Salad when Murrey quotes the poem that Colonel Garrick Mallery read at the Yale Alumni annual dinner in Washington DC on January 30, 1878. It occupies over 2 pages. Here would be an interesting game: Give two people the poem and instruct them to make the salad. Have the chefs work alone. When done compare the salad dishes and see if they resemble one another. Man . . . I need a job. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 297 pages
