Wood, Stanley Over the Range to the Golden Gate & Anitque Railway Maps A Tourist's Guide to Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, Puget Sound and the Great North-West R. R. Donnelley & Sons, Publishers 1889 First Edition Hardcover Very Good with no dust jacket An owner's name is penned on the front endpaper of the book, some corner bumping, and shelf wear on edges and spine. Overall, binding is still tight, no smell, and a terrific volume. ; Please contact me for pictures of the maps and volumes. Offered for sale here are two antique original (not reproduction) railroad maps, a railroad marketing brochure for the Hotel Del Monte in Monterey, California -- again original --, and what appears to me to be a first edition of Over the Range To The Golden Gate - A Complete Tourist's Guide to Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, Puget Sound and the Great Northwest by Stanley Wood. The maps and marketing brochure were found in the book where they probably have rested for over a century. The first map is the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad Map. It is undated, but research leads me to believe it is from the late 1880's or early1890's. Railroad enthusiasts may have more definitive information. It is wholly intact but fragile, with small openings starting at two inside fold intersections. There is also about a half inch blob of ink just north of Denver. To me it looks like an imperfection made at the print shop. This map is suitable for framing and is beautiful. Climatic Map of California Southern Pacific Company is dated 1888 and shows both Southern Pacific track lines and color coded temperature bands. This map is in very good shape with some foxing (discoloration) at the edges. This map would be handsome framed as well. The Southern Pacific Company marketing brochure for the Hotel Del Monte is approximately 9.5 by 11 and has printing on both sides. California's "Big Four" railroad tycoons built the Hotel del Monte to be the most elegant seaside resort in the world. A book about the hotel was written by Julie Cain and is available on the net, but I am not sure if this marketing piece is featured in it. Last but not least is the book which has terrific illustrations throughout and features fascinating ads for hotels and other businesses operating in the area at the time. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall Price:
