1 Snap it Up! 1925 Volume I Fifth Corps Area Fort Benjamin Harrison
Military Training Camps Association of the United States 1925 Hardcover Good+
Snap It Up! 1925 Volume I Fifth Corps Area Fort Benjamin Harrison is a fascinating historical document which gives one a surprisingly deep experience and understanding of life in this little remembered voluntary program called the Citizens' Military Training Camps (CMTC). Conceived under President Harding and continued under President Coolidge, the CMTC was part of the government effort to increase military preparedness in the wake of the Great War. A short history of this program along with the major figures in the program's creation is part of the book. The book does not have individual participant photos rather it has group photos by company with rosters. Each company came up with poems, drawings, cartoons, calendars, and stories which tell about aspects of camp life and experience. Articles and candid and posed photos show elements of cavalry, organized sports, religion, and many other subjects concerning life and training at Fort Benjamin Harrison. Additionally, the book has vintage Packard, Stetson Hats, Jewett Motor Coach, Black and Decker ads and other advertisments at the back of volume. The book is in good shape with but does have about a half inch tear in the cloth at the top rear of the spine, minor foxing, and a pencilled price erasure. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 161 pages

13 Stockman, David The Triumph of Politics Why the Reagan Revolution Failed
Harper & Row 1986 First Edition Hardcover Very Good in Very Good dust jacket
Whatever your political leanings, this book is an interesting perspective inside the Reagan White House. Stockman was considered a turncoat by the right and a hero by the media and the left in 1986 when the book came out. We believe that history's judgement on the Reagan presidency, while still undoubtedly evolving, is generally positive -- primarily because the crushing stagflation stopped, gasoline price woes dampened, and the cold war ended. Bipartisan relationships and deals have undoubtedly influenced this judgement. Tax policy and budget deficits, still vociferously debated today, were pivotal in the Reagan on attack these problems. Stockman's judgement in 1986 was generally negative. Is history's positive judgement correct? Or is Stockman's verdict more correct? The book and DJ are in very good shape with no obvious flaws. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 422 pages

18 Wells, H. G. The Outline of History In Two Volumes
Garden City 1961 Book Club Edition Hardcover Very Good in Good dust jacket
H. G. Wells, just after WWI, looked at the history books and found them lacking. He focused on his own history and published his outline in 1920 to much acclaim and demand. Through the years, Wells updated and revised the outline and after his death Raymond Postgate made revisions (this edition includes these revisions). However, his outline was not without controvery. According to Wikipedia, "in 1925 G. K. Chesterton wrote The Everlasting Man at least partly in reaction to Wells. It disputes his portrayals of human life and civilization as a seamless development (via evolution) from animal life, of Jesus Christ as merely another charismatic leader, and of the Christian Church as one more religious movement like any other. " This would be a fascinating book for critical readers and Christian scholars. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 1029 pages
